If you have a chance to travel to Halong, don’t forget check out Trong Mai Islet, the icon of the Bay.
Trong Mai Islet (also known as Ga Choi Islet or “Cock Fighting” in English) is just around 4.4 km away from Tuan Chau Marina, close to the Stone Dog islet.
It’s made up of 2 small islets facing to each other, each being 10 metres tall. Trong Mai stand alone in a flat sea area, making it stand out even more among the spectacular of Halong.
The name of the islet is determined by its shape. Some people gave it the name Trong Mai (A couple of chicken) as they thought it looked like two chickens showing love and romance to each other. On the other hand, others imagined it as two roosters going to have a fight and called it Ga Choi (Cocks Fighting).
Trong Mai (Ga Choi) islet is become the symbol of Halong Bay and even Vietnam tourism. Don’t forget to take nice check-in photos if you have a chance passing by it when visiting Halong Bay.
