Boat renting fee
The local authority only charges for Halong Bay entrance fee. Due to the fact that it is a sea location, you will need to rent a boat, which is mostly operated by private companies or local families.
Though the costs vary, you could expect to pay as below:
- Sharing boat: 200,000vnd – 250,000vnd/person
- Private boat:
+ Oct to April: 600,000vnd/hour from Mon to Fri; 700,000vnd from Sat – Sun.
+ May to Sep: 700,000vnd/hour from Mon to Fri; 800,000vnd from Sat – Sun.

Where to buy the ticket to visit Halong Bay
There’s 2 ports that selling tickets to Halong Bay:
- Tuan Chau Marina: This is the most popular port in Halong Bay with many cruises depart from. However, it’s located quite far from Halong City (12km). The ticket counter is on the right of the main gate.
- Halong International Port (Sun Port): Located closer to the city central, the Sun is the newest port in Halong Bay with an area of nearly 4,500m2. The port is home to big & luxury cruise ships.
